ECAFL ROUND 3 SUNDAY PARC CLUNY 1PM

The Bombers without Blight? The Saints without the Italian Stallion Ferreri? Round 3 of the ECAFL is shaping up to be a pivotal round in the season. It will all take place at Parc Cluny in Laval from 1pm SUNDAY the 4th of JULY. It will be a Montreal Saints double header.

SAINTS MOVE TO 3-1 WITH GUTSY WIN

The Quebec Saints stormed back into contention for top of the OAFL Division 2 table last Saturday wrestling a 5 point victory from the league leading Toronto Central Blues in Ottawa. Under the guidance of first time head coach Greg Bretiere the Saints were able to withstand a late rally from the Blues in the slippery conditions. In the fiery encounter it was Quebec Saints first gamer Darren Haverhoek who shone for the Bleu et Blanc. The Saints will take this weekend off and look toward ECAFL ROund 3 on Sunday the 4th of July.

Saints and Dollarcinema unite to raise money for "Call to Arms" fight against cancer

With a weekend off from footy commitments the Quebec Saints teamed up with new sponsor Dollarcinema to help raise money for the "Call to Arms" fight against cancer. Saints players friends and family turned up to watch a movie for the cause at DOLLARCINEMA Montreal. Bernie and the gang at Dollarcinema donated the takings from the movie toward the Saints charity so a big THANKYOU to Bernie and all the Saints players that turned up.

Dollarcinema can be found on the second floor at 6900 Decarie square (5 minute walk from Metro Namur) or close by the Decarie and Jean-Talon junction. Movies are all $2, refreshments are all $1 and the movies shown are not yet on DVD and just finished at the regular cinemas. The Dollarcinema is always involved in raising money for charity so help out by stopping by and taking in a flick.

CONTROVERSY AND RAIN FILLED ROUND 2

The Bombers finally opened their win account against the Saints in a match that had all the Halmarks of a theatre production. Down at half time, up at three quarter time the Bombers seemingly trailed in the closing minutes kicking three consecutive behinds. As the siren sounded for full time confusion reigned as the Saints thought they had taken the win by a solitary point. On official review of the scoresheet an error had been made, five minutes after the final siren the Bombers were awarded the four premiership points with a three point win. Bombers 8.8 (56) defeated Saints 8.5 (53)

Game two would be just as ferocious. The Power led early with excellent run out of the centre. A shot on goal that hit the post Power spearhead Cam Beaman was reviewed and awarded a goal, the Power holding on in the horendous conditions for a 7 point victory. Power 6.5 (41) defeated Bombers 5.4 (34).
