#31 Anthony Williams first Saint to be inducted into the Quebec Saints 'Hall Of Fame'

Anthony Williams became the first player to be inducted into the Quebec Saints 'Hall Of Fame'. The award was presented to him at the team's sponsor pub 'HOOTERS RIVE-SUD' on the 3rd May 2009.

Anthony joined the Saints organization a few weeks after it's creation in early 2008. Initially turning down the job as Head Coach, Anthony - after some gentle persuasion - accepted the job to be the first coach of an Aussie Rules team in Montreal. Anthony's first task was to train a group of Quebecors who had barely heard of Aussie Rules let alone seen it into a 'team' in under 6 weeks in preparation for their first match against the Toronto Central Blues 'Rec' team. The rest is history, in a game nobody expected the Saints to win - they did.

Anthony has also played a huge role in the development of the ECAFL and has made generous financial contributions to the team and league aswell as donating countless hours of his time to the cause.

The Quebec Saints are proud to induct #31 into their Hall Of Fame.

Saints make their point in the season opener

The Montreal Saints withstood a late comeback from the Laval Bombers to clinch a 2 point victory in the ECAFL season opener at Parc Jarry today. Boosted by the return of coach Anthony Williams the Saints forged an early lead only to see the Bombers peg them back after half time. As the game drew close to full time the Bombers squandered numerous opportunities in front of goal, the Saints however can thank their precision kicking taking the win 9.1 (55) to the Bombers 7.11 (53).

Goal Kickers: Saints - Ronan Shaughnessy 4, Emlyn Vivian 2, Nick Switzer 2, Anthony Williams
Bombers: Cam Stark 4, James-Robert Theis 2, David Zelniker 1.
