Womens footy kicks off in Montreal, while the Bombers end Saints dream of top spot in the men's division

The Montreal Angels Women's Aussie Rules club got it's first taste of things to come as the inaugural game was decided in the last few seconds of the match. The Devils bolted to an early lead but impressive team work from the Angels brought the gap back to within 5 points - The Angels running into an open goal with 3 seconds left in the match but missed, hitting the post and letting the Devils escape with their first victory. Devils 5.7 (37) defeated Angels 4.9 (33)

In the men's match the Saints and Bombers fought out a tough neck and neck battle all day. With the score never more than 6 points the difference in the first half, the Bombers used the wind to their advantage in the third keeping the Saints scoreless and giving themselves a 28 point lead heading into the last. In a tight last quarter the Saints threatened to break back into the game but some late Bombers goals put the game beyond doubt the final score Bombers 14.12 (96) def. Saints 10.7 (67)

In a taste of things to come a small exhibition match was played out late in the day by the Pointe-Claire Power men against a Saints All-Star team. A close fought out affair the Saints 6.3 (39) defeated the Power 4.5 (29), PJ kicking 3 for the Saints while new recruit Mike slotted a lazy 4 for the Power.
