Saints players add fire power to Swans line-up while one led the Rebels cause
Three Quebec Saints players lined up in Swans colours last weekend and although Ottawa didn't come away with the four points the boys from Montreal proved they're good enough to mix it with the best.
Mick Lacy lined up in the forward line and after a goaless first quarter by the Swans, Mick stepped up a gear in the 2nd and led the Swans charge back into the game. The Swans slammed on 3 goals in the 2nd quarter, 2 of those off the boot of Lacy who easily beat his opponent and was proving a headache for the Rebels down forward.
Not to be outdone, Shane Blight started on the Half Back line and had a dominant first half, Picking up countless possesions Shane was easily amongst the best players. His complete dominance helping keep the Swans within 6 points of the Rebels at half time. The Swans coach made a key move at half-time switching Shane into the midfield to capatilize on his stellar performance. Unfortunately Shane was injured in the third quarter, not surprisingly the Swans chances of a win vanished as Shane left the field and with the lack of ball coming into the forward line Mick Lacy was helpless up front to stop the landslide, the Swans on the end of a 55 point hiding.
The Rebels dominant win was helped along the way by Saints player Cam Stark, running rampant through the midfield Cam broke free in the second half and was one of the main reasons for the 2nd half onslaught slotting through several goals of his own.

Breaking News: Aussie Rules in Montreal no longer a two horse race?
Rumours and speculation are mounting that a third ECAFL team has applied, and been granted entry into the Eastern Canada Australian Football League. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the new 'Pointe Claire Power' team may already have their first signing in none other than West Island resident and All-Star forward Anthony 'Choco' Williams. It is also believed that other players have been approached to join the breakaway club. When questioned - West Island resident and Saints star PJ Devine's management declared that he had a no trade clause and would be staying put with current league leaders Montreal. Some big questions remain however, if the Power are coming when exactly will they make their debut? And more importantly, who will be lining up for the new club? An inside source believes that the Power could be ready by as early as round 2, and that they will receive picks 1,2,3 of new players aswell as access to free agent Bomber and Saints players. Stay tuned for more updates

Coach's Box - ECAFL Round 1 Wrap-Up
Well done to everyone who played on the weekend in perfect conditions for Australian rules football. Both teams played a high level of skill considering the level of knowledge of the game.
The start of round one was very fast out of the blocks with the Saints being able to lead at quarter time against a strong 4-5 goal wind.
Some very hard work from Alex, Gab and Ronan saved many goals that the Bombers should have kicked. Again the likes of Cam and James in the ruck was causing issues with the Saints defence. The two were able to gain most wins from the middle. Even if the Saints ruckman was winning the taps Cam managed to read the ball perfectly in the first.
Solidly new recruit David Krief was performing well in forward for the Bombers giving them some strong leads with the wind. For the Saints the power house of Vinny and new comer Nick Switzer caused grief as they created many goals.

#31 Anthony Williams first Saint to be inducted into the Quebec Saints 'Hall Of Fame'
Anthony Williams became the first player to be inducted into the Quebec Saints 'Hall Of Fame'. The award was presented to him at the team's sponsor pub 'HOOTERS RIVE-SUD' on the 3rd May 2009.
Anthony joined the Saints organization a few weeks after it's creation in early 2008. Initially turning down the job as Head Coach, Anthony - after some gentle persuasion - accepted the job to be the first coach of an Aussie Rules team in Montreal. Anthony's first task was to train a group of Quebecors who had barely heard of Aussie Rules let alone seen it into a 'team' in under 6 weeks in preparation for their first match against the Toronto Central Blues 'Rec' team. The rest is history, in a game nobody expected the Saints to win - they did.
Anthony has also played a huge role in the development of the ECAFL and has made generous financial contributions to the team and league aswell as donating countless hours of his time to the cause.
The Quebec Saints are proud to induct #31 into their Hall Of Fame.

Saints make their point in the season opener
The Montreal Saints withstood a late comeback from the Laval Bombers to clinch a 2 point victory in the ECAFL season opener at Parc Jarry today. Boosted by the return of coach Anthony Williams the Saints forged an early lead only to see the Bombers peg them back after half time. As the game drew close to full time the Bombers squandered numerous opportunities in front of goal, the Saints however can thank their precision kicking taking the win 9.1 (55) to the Bombers 7.11 (53).
Goal Kickers: Saints - Ronan Shaughnessy 4, Emlyn Vivian 2, Nick Switzer 2, Anthony Williams
Bombers: Cam Stark 4, James-Robert Theis 2, David Zelniker 1.
The full match report will be posted soon.
